Youth Development League (YDL)
Milton Travel Soccer offers a youth development program to introduce the game of soccer to younger players.
The Youth League is not a travel program. All practices and games are scheduled in town on Sundays only.
The Youth League is not competing with "Town" soccer. Many of our players play both leagues. The program offers an opportunity for 5 year olds to get introduced to the game of soccer (we find that 4 is too young). The Youth League also provides an option for those who prefer to play soccer on Sundays in the Fall and/or Spring. YDL plays a 5-on-5 game, including a goalie and youth net.
Milton Travel Soccer also wants to make sure coaches have the necessary support and resources to be able to offer age appropriate skills and games. We therefore provide coaching clinics and coaches' licenses, offer books and videos in the library, and will help with any coaches' questions.
Goals
Fun!! Everyone plays. We want every player participating in the Youth League to learn basic skills, to enjoy soccer and,when the season's over, to want to keep on playing.
Fall 2010 Age Groups
The Youth League is open to children 5-8 years old*. There are three sections based on grade:

* older players (born prior to September 1, 2002 or in 3rd grade) are welcome to play in the Travel (BAYS) program, but must sign up before July 1, 2010 to guarantee a spot on a Fall 2010 Travel team. Please see Travel Program for information on the travel program
Few exceptions will be made to age appropriate placements under extenuating circumstances. All requests for coaches and teammates will be carefully considered and fulfilled when appropriate.

Fees
$75 registration includes eight weeks of soccer and covers administration costs, field usage charges by town Parks & Recreation program, numbered jersey, ball/socks/shorts (Kindergarten only), and team and field equipment.
Registration
The registration deadline for the Fall 2010 season is
August 15, 2010.
A copy of the child's birth certificate is required for all
first time players (will not be returned).

Season
The Youth League Spring season starts in mid-April and the Fall season starts in mid-September; each season runs for eight weeks.
We try to have all games at the same time each week Sunday afternoons. The normal schedule is 45 minutes of practice followed by a 45 minute game.
Inclement Weather: Check the website for a message that will be posted by 10:30 am on Sunday.
